Western Europeans Expanding in Romania, in spite of economic downturn

I'm pleased to announce that a few Western European retailers are expanding in Romania.  This is welcome news.  Carrefour has just opened two major stores this month; one in Bucharest, one in Alexandria.  Other retailers are in the wings looking at sites and there is again starting to be some competition for good sites.  Of course the retailers that are expanding now provide the basics; food.  For re-entry for electronics and DIY retailers, it will probably be some time to come.

With many businesses that take the long view - this is a perfect time to invest and expand.  Even though things are tough at the moment they recognize they won't be forever and they can invest today betting on the inevitable turnaround in Romania.  You can build your building for less money today and if you're in the market for the long haul, sales will improve over time and you can consolidate your market presence, but expand when it's less expensive to do so; today.

Prices for Romanian Real Estate have started dropping since Q3 of 2008.

Right now, I believe they have reached their lowest, since Romania is one of the last countries in the EU to start recovering from the economic downturn. In 2011 foreign investors are starting to invest in Romania again, since most of the prices have dropped a lot, some even below the construction cost.

One such example is a 5 bedroom Vila in the beautiful Romanian mountains with breathtaking scenery all around.

While in 2007/2008 the asking price was around 220.000 EUR, it is available now for 119.000 EUR.

Within the economic context of 2011, I believe that the price of this Vila will go up pretty soon.
